Answers from Dr. Kaiser Question: I recently purchased K-PAX vitamins and started taking two packets a day of the double strength since I weight 190 pounds. However, I immediately experienced diarrhea so I stopped taking the capsules. When the diarrhea stopped, I began taking the packets again but only one packet per day. My diarrhea then returned. Has anyone else had this symptom with K-PAX vitamins? Please advise. Thank you. Dr. Kaiser replies: In my experience, the only reason people have as much trouble tolerating K-PAX vitamins as you describe, is if there are problems in the GI tract. These can include intestinal parasites but can also be from other conditions such as an absence of healthy intestinal bacteria (low levels of acidophilus) or an overgrowth of unhealthy organisms such as candida (fungus). These GI imbalances are problems in themselves and can also limit your ability to include micronutrients as part of your antiviral treatment program. They can also interfere with your ability to tolerate antiviral medications as well. I've seen this occur often. I would first suggest that you visit two websites to gather more information. The first is gsdl.com where you can learn a lot about intestinal health. You might also ask your doctor to order you a Comprehensive Parasitology Test Kit (CP) from this lab. They are much better at picking up these problems than local labs. The second website is customprobiotics.com where you can learn more about candida by clicking the link on the bottom of the page. Ultimately, with better intestinal health, every system of your body can benefit and you can then gradually reintroduce K-PAX vitamin capsules into your program. I hope the above information has been helpful. |
