Mitochondrial Support for Healing

Many of my patients suffer from ‘burn out’ and ‘dysfunction’ of key systems such the nervous system, the immune system, the GI system, the liver and the adrenal glands.

One of the reasons I have been successful at helping a majority of my patients recover from long standing, chronic illness is because of my focus on improving mitochondrial health.

If your mitochondria have become worn down and damaged due to years of overuse, you will not be able to heal and recover good health unless they are properly supported.

If you are suffering from fatigue and concentration difficulties, the mitochondria of your nervous system need support. If you are suffering from immune dysfunction, the mitochondria of your immune cells need support. And if you are suffering from symptoms of adrenal fatigue, the mitochondria of your adrenal gland cells need support as well. Then, these systems can begin to function at a higher level.

Supporting mitochondrial health and rejuvenation is the foundation of an effective healing program.

The production of cellular energy is a highly dynamic process. Mitochondria burn fuel (carbohydrates and fats) just like a jet engine burns fuel. Similarly, they both generate heat and waste products (free radicals) which can be toxic. Inside the mitochondria, free radicals can build up and damage cellular structures including cell membranes, DNA and the mitochondria themselves.

Fortunately, nature provides the mitochondria a network of antioxidant molecules to deal with this incessant rain of free radicals.

Thirty years ago, while caring for several hundred AIDS patients, many of them developed severe side effects from the early antiviral medications (AZT, D4T, DDI). These side effects were conclusively linked to mitochondrial toxicity and included nerve damage, fatigue, dementia and immune dysfunction.

After several years of testing and refinement, it became clear to me that one specific formula of micronutrients and antioxidants was best able to improve their mitochondrial functioning and restore normal functioning to many of the body’s key systems.

This research identified several key mitochondrial nutrients that, when combined, yield synergistic and clinically significant results. These include:

  • Acetyl-L-carnitine (500-1,000mg/day)

  • N-acetyl-cysteine (600-1,200mg/day)

  • Alpha lipoic acid (200-400mg/day)

  • Coenzyme Q-10 (100-200mg/day)

These nutrients are even more effective when administered with therapeutic dosages of important cofactors including B-vitamins (30-60mg/day), vitamin C (1,000-2,000mg/day), magnesium (100-200mg/day), zinc (15-30mg/day) and selenium (100-200 mcg/day).

The aforementioned mitochondrial nutrients are not commonly found in most multivitamins. That is why, shortly after discovering the effectiveness of this nutrient combination, I worked with K-PAX Vitamins to manufacture this exact formula into a single nutritional supplement called K-PAX Immune.

I recommend to most of my patients with immune, nervous and adrenal dysfunction, that they take 4-8 tablets per day of K-PAX Immune as the foundation of their healing program. Other supplements such as probiotics, fish oil and herbal botanicals can be added to the basic program if warranted.

I have used this mitochondrial formula for over 25 years to help my patients with fatigue, brain fog and other chronic condition significantly improve their health.

By properly supporting mitochondrial function and energy generation, any other treatments or therapies you apply will be more effective. This is because improved mitochondrial functioning helps provide the brain, liver and immune system increased energy so they can function at their highest level.

Keep Hope Alive!
