“May You Live in Interesting Times”
You’ve probably heard the phrase, “May you live in interesting times.” It’s often cited as a Chinese curse, and it reflects the paradox of living through eras marked by upheaval and change.
My friends, we are not just living in interesting times - we are living in disruptive ones.
From rising geopolitical tensions and climate instability to inflation, health care crises, and the rise of chronic illness in younger populations, the pace of change is dizzying.
Questions like Will there be a wider war in the Middle East? Could another recession be around the corner? Why are colon cancer rates rising in young adults? - these uncertainties can stir anxiety, fear, and helplessness. And those emotional states, if left unaddressed, can erode our health.

So how do we stay grounded, strong, and steady in the face of such instability?
Over the coming months, this blog will focus on strategies to help you not only weather the storm - but emerge stronger. Whether you're managing chronic illness, navigating personal stress, or simply feeling overwhelmed by the state of the world, my goal is to offer tools and insights that can help you build real resilience - in your body, your mind, and your spirit.
Three Important Updates
1. My Upcoming Book – Full Spectrum Healing
I’m excited to share that I’ve signed a book publishing deal with Johns Hopkins University Press. The book, titled Full Spectrum Healing, is scheduled for release in 2027. It will guide readers - both the general public and healthcare practitioners - through a functional medicine framework for building health and recovering from complex illnesses.
Drawing from my decades of clinical experience, the book includes powerful case studies of patients who achieved full recovery from conditions like ME/CFS, fibromyalgia, Long COVID, and IBS.
2. A Writing Sabbatical – Starting August 1st
To bring this book to life, I’ll be taking a sabbatical from clinical work starting August 1, 2025. This pause will allow me to focus fully on completing the manuscript while continuing to share key insights and healing strategies through this blog and my YouTube channel.
3. The Gut–Mitochondria–Brain Axis: A New Clinical Frontier
This past weekend, I had the honor of delivering a keynote address to over 200 healthcare professionals at a medical conference focused on the gut-mitochondria-brain connection - a framework I’ve been advocating for more than 30 years.
The health of your mitochondria (the energy-producing engines in your cells) plays a central role in regulating digestion, immune function, and neurological resilience.

Over my next several posts, I’ll be sharing how this emerging model can help you increase energy, reduce inflammation, and restore equilibrium - no matter what’s happening in the world around you.
Stay Connected
I’ll continue posting new blog entries and videos throughout my sabbatical. These will include practical health strategies and early excerpts from Full Spectrum Healing.
